The challenge

Care could not pause, not even for a night.

A regional medical centre needed a new patient tower and the renovation of several existing departments, while continuing to treat patients around the clock. Infection control, utility shutdowns and patient moves all had to be sequenced with precision.

Hospital leadership wanted someone on their side who understood construction and took clinical reality just as seriously.

Representative engagement. Client identity withheld; specifics anonymised and illustrative.

Our approach

How we changed the outcome

We represented the owner on site and planned every phase around the people inside the building.

PHASE 01PHASE 02PHASE 03PHASE 04
PHASE 01Phase with clinicians

Phasing plans were developed with clinical leaders so the work moved around care, not through it.

PHASE 02Schedule the protections

Infection control, shutdowns and patient moves were carried as critical-path activities.

PHASE 03Govern openly

Owner reporting, change control and contractor oversight kept the program transparent.

PHASE 04Activate each phase

Equipment, staffing, training and move-in were joined to commissioning, phase by phase.

What changed

The difference we made

Construction and care ran side by side, and each new space opened ready for patients rather than merely complete.

Result 01Care protected

Clinical services continued through every phase of the work.

Result 02Ready on the first day

Activation planning meant spaces opened equipped, staffed and licensed.

Result 03A clear view upward

Executives and the board received straightforward reporting at every stage.
