Why it mattered

In a running plant, the costliest thing on site is lost production. Construction has to be planned so tightly that operations barely notice it was there.

The challenge

A regional health system was opening new beds faster than its linen plant could keep up. The plant needed a second tunnel washer line and more finishing capacity, while running three shifts a day, seven days a week.

Every hour of downtime sent laundry to an outside processor at premium rates, and the new equipment had to be set, piped and tested within arm’s reach of a live line.

How we kept it on course

Our approach, phase by phase.

The same disciplined sequence we bring to every engagement, shaped around what this project needed most.

PHASE 01PHASE 02PHASE 03PHASE 04
PHASE 01Understand the plant

Production calendars, critical utilities and acceptable outage windows mapped with the operations team.

PHASE 02Script every tie-in

Each connection to the live process planned hour by hour, with a tested fallback for every step.

PHASE 03Follow the equipment

Vendor fabrication, testing and delivery carried in the schedule itself rather than in separate trackers.

PHASE 04Reach full rate

Startup, trials and handover sequenced to hit target throughput on the planned date.

What changed

The difference we made

Measured the only way that matters: did the project land where we said it would.

Result 01Production never paused

Tie-ins were placed in planned weekend windows, each with a rehearsed fallback.

Result 02Vendor dates in the schedule

Washer, dryer and conveyor fabrication sat inside the critical path rather than in a separate tracker.

Result 03Capacity before demand

The second line was at full throughput before the first new patient floor opened.
