Why it mattered

Schools and universities run on dates that do not move: the first day of term, the start of semester, the first home game. The schedule has to be built backwards from those days, because students and families have already planned around them.

The challenge

A charter network opened enrollment for a new K–12 campus before the site was cleared. Families had made plans, teachers had been hired, and there was no alternative building.

A fourteen-month design-build program, a slow county permit cycle and a spring of heavy rain left almost no float.

How we kept it on course

Our approach, phase by phase.

The same disciplined sequence we bring to every engagement, shaped around what this project needed most.

PHASE 01PHASE 02PHASE 03PHASE 04
PHASE 01Start from the first day

The academic calendar fixed as the finish, with every milestone planned backwards from it.

PHASE 02Resolve the unknowns early

Ground conditions, approvals and long-lead items dealt with in the first two months.

PHASE 03Report in plain language

Monthly updates and short summaries for boards, faculty and donors.

PHASE 04Plan the move-in

Furniture, technology, laboratories and staff moves treated as a critical sequence of their own.

What changed

The difference we made

Measured the only way that matters: did the project land where we said it would.

Result 01Teachers in early

Staff moved into classrooms nine days ahead of the first day of school.

Result 02Rain planned for

Weather allowance was modeled from day one, so wet weeks never arrived as surprises.

Result 03A board that slept well

Trustees received a one-page plain-language schedule summary each month.
